Traditional and molecular studies of the plant pathogen Phytophthora capsici: A Review
Resumen
Phytophthora capsici is a pathogen that limits the production of
diverse crops of economic interest, mainly of the Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae families. Many studies of this pathogen have been carried
out due to its impact on agricultural production systems. This review
covers studies on topics such as isolation methods, fungicide resistance, pathogenicity and virulence, physiological races, genetic diversity of its populations, and studies of the genetic expression during the
plant-pathogen interaction. The objective of this review is to abridge
the information generated on these topics in order to guide future
research on this pathogen.
