Barrio´s Regeneration and Reoccupation Process, a Landscape Approach to a Border City

Abstract

Hernández-Fonseca and Rivero-Peña reflect on how cities in vulnerable, overly complex and uncertain contexts establish urbanisation actions to manage their territory and how any space outside an urbanisation logic is assumed as a space ready to be filled with urban objects. Contrary to the urbanising vision that prevailed in many Latin American cities, the authors propose the landscape approach as a way of defining context-related and open processes of intervention in the place.
