This work describes the development of an augmented reality mobile application for which the objective is to be a complement to the teaching and learning process of the History of Mexico class in second grade of middle school. The images that appear in the student's textbook are the targets that, when focused by the camera of the mobile device, activate the virtual content within the application. This mobile application developed through an autonomous architecture offers educational activities that enrich the content of the subject.
The results of the evaluation applied to the students of the groups studied, indicated that those students who made use of the mobile application obtained a better grade average in the exam they presented. In addition, the ratings of this experimental group remained mostly within an average range, indicating that the mobile application standardizes the knowledge acquired.
