Synthesis and Characterization of PVA-HEC Hydrogel: A New Proposal for the Reconstructive Treatment of Breast Cancer Survivors
Resumen
Women who suffer a radical mastectomy as a consequence of the treatment of breast cancer, lead with physical and
psychic effects. The reconstruction of this important area of the human body in the female psyche was our goal to
develop a new material that allows the reconstruction of the breast through the use of a biodegradable implant that
supports the regeneration of the removed adipose tissue. For this, we selected a polymeric matrix of PVA-HEC that
achieved the objective in animal models in 4 months. This work discusses the details of its synthesis and
characterization to understand the mechanisms of interaction of this matrix with the organism.
