The Development of Allantoin-Enriched Pectin Hydrogel for the Treatment of Skin Wounds
Resumen
This work describes the development of a very soft of allantoin enriched pectin hydrogel for wound healing proposal. The homogeneous distribution of allantoin in the amorphous surface and heterogeneous pores of this hydrogel make this product an excellent candidate for wound healing (Figure1). The presence of functional groups as carboxylic acid and amine groups is related with healing effectiveness [1-4], and the heterogeneous distribution of pores promotes the wound drying with better interaction between the hydrogel and cells involved in the wound healing process [4-7]. In vivo results indicate a 71.43% reduction in the total healing time in skin wounds in a rat model [8].
