Microalgae are aquatic plants that do not necessarily require fresh water to grow, they can do it in brackish water or even in sea water. Because they are microscopic they quickly obtain their nutrients in the culture medium, which gives them the ability to grow much faster than the most productive land plants. Microalgae ponds can produce an amount of biomass equivalent to ten times more than what the equivalent area would produce with land plants. It is perhaps the only agricul tural harvest that does not require fresh water to grow, in addition to bioremediating water and salty soils: without competing for fertile land or fresh water, it does not spend or decrease the wa ter table of the subsoil, it is fertilized more effi ciently and without producing contamination by landslides of chemical fertilizers in the environ ment. The productivity of microalgae is tremen dous and also a lot of product rich in protein and carbohydrates compared to other terrestrial crops. In addition to high productivity, Capture huge amounts of CO2 which helps reduce climate change. Similarly, food, rooms and transport are required to leave a lower carbon footprint. The microalgae can be fundamental to improve food, agriculture and cattle raising, the massive kidnap ping of CO2, in addition to giving a bioremedia tion environmental service since they function as a biological filter to use it as a quaternary treatment of water and rivers.es_MX
