In the last two years, several approaches reported an excellent influence on wound contraction with
the use of fresh gels of Aloe vera or its compounds in solution. The development of a flexible film of
Pectin enriched with Allantoin could improve the mobility of patients and reduce the risk of
contamination in the special care of an open wound during the health process. A hydrogel of Pectin
was enriched with Allantoin, plasticized with glycerol and the mixture was dried to obtain this film.
The characterization and a topical study of Pectin-Allantoin on the skin wound healing process were
investigated in female Wistar rats. Pectin-Allantoin film exhibited very similar wound contraction as
Aloe vera fresh hydrogels, reducing 25% of the total healing time. A magnificent result because the
Pectin-Allantoin film covered the wound until the body begins to build its natural scab. The results
show that with this of Pectin-Allantoin film is possible to reach a remarkable healing process using
the film as an artificial scap making easier the mobility of patients and the contraction of the wound
